Yesterday was one of those 14 hour days. I spent the first part of it at my day job and then headed to 4 hours of Dale Carnegie training. Yep, I volunteered for this duty.
I took the DC course last year and was invited back to work as a "graduate assistant" or coach. This means I spend 4 hours a week as an unpaid helper for the instructor and am frequently put on the spot as an example for the current students. Talk about an out- of- the- comfort zone experience! Anyone who has been through this training knows it takes you WAY out of that zone.
Last night I had 3 minutes notice I was going to do a two minute presentation on a defining moment in my career. I did well but alas, 11 more weeks (and 11 more speeches)!

Life's Rollercoaster
Funny how life's up moments are followed by some downers.
My last post I was excited and nervous about our test workshop of "Joy". On Friday night, after a couple more unexpected cancellations, Lisa and I decided that three people were not enough for the interaction the workshop relies heavily on. So at the eleventh hour, we canceled the test.
On one level I was relieved, on another very disappointed. We worked so hard to get to this point and then poof, Saturday came and went just like any other.
We haven't closed the book on this one yet but are exploring other ways to bring our training to the masses....

Finding Joy
At this point in my life, I have been working on several ventures in addition to my day job. One of them is coming to fruition this weekend.
My business partner and I are in the final stages of preparing for our first "Joy" workshop set for Saturday. What is "Joy"? It is our interpretation of a program we found to unlock creativity and move past the fear and blocks we all seem to encounter when pursuing our creative dreams.
This has been a long road. We started kicking around ideas back in December, ordered the materials in April, and for better or worse, are launching our test workshop in three days.
To say I am apprehensive is an understatement. Although I am a seasoned presenter, I am scared. One of the keys to this training is being vulnerable--not one of my strong points.
At this point all the groundwork is done. I just have to let it flow....

Blessings
Yesterday, I had a great morning I have to share. I taught a customer service training for a group of local school board staff. This one was my baby. I created the training from scratch just for their particular needs and concerns.
I worried I wouldn't have enough material, would have a surly group, etc. ....
They turned out to be a wonderful and lively bunch of ladies who I found frequently nodding to the points I was making. They were eager to participate and made the three hours fly by.
A day like this reminds that I am so blessed to be using my God-given talents. I wish every day was this inspiring!

Welcome!
This blog is to post ideas and articles as I develop and teach training sessions. Hopefully I will give others out there who are figuring out how to get their point across some help and inspiration. I will also include some anecdotes from my experiences--the ups and the downs.
All are welcome to add their comments to the mix.
