I am grateful for a new, fresh year although this one came with a bad cold attached to it. This time of year is a bit slower in the call for training for which I am glad. As one who is in a constant search for knowledge, I am in the midst of an 8 week master’s course. What this means is I have to absorb 16 weeks worth of material and produce 16 weeks worth of assignments and research paper in 8 weeks. I am resolved to keep plugging away at it and will be done on the 26th.
On a brighter note, I am finishing a draft of my Computer Boot Camp I pitched to the local community college’s computer institute. We have scheduled the class for mid-February and I am scrambling to put the finishing touches. I am covering topics such as creating common Word business documents such as newsletters and brochures and how to use a mail merge for letters and mailing labels. The class also covers building an Excel list, enhancing charts and creating files with multiple users, creating PDF files for sharing and use on the web, producing outstanding PowerPoint presentations, and using the Internet for a business advantage.
The course includes overviews of each topic area and hands-on projects for the class to complete. The first part of the class will cover the basic topic areas; the second part focuses on hands-on projects to reinforce the topics.
I hope enough people register so the class will actually come to fruition but I am happy to be creating.
