I am currently teaching a web design class to a bunch of 5-8 graders who are participating in a summer program at a local community college. During one of the sessions, I had to make an unpopular decision and one of my students whined loudly …but… it’s NOT fair!
This simple statement got me thinking about the fairness of life or should I say the lack of fairness. I have been around enough to know that life isn’t fair. It doesn’t deal the same opportunities and challenges to any one of us; even twins have different experiences in life. The key here is to embrace the challenges and make the best of them while seeking out the opportunities and taking advantage of them.
There are days when I feel like whining to anyone who will listen life’s NOT fair but I suck it up and get down to the business of living my life as best I can. After all, my challenges are nowhere near the burden others have. And my opportunities are there, if I prepare and keep my eyes open for them.
Feel like whining instead of winning? Read some uplifting thoughts from Jack Canfield, the guy who wrote the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. Lesson 1 really speaks being responsible for your own life.
